Vote 1 Viola Morris for General Secretary
Nearly two decades of nursing, organising and community. Here is who she is and what she carries into every meeting.
A nurse who has spent her whole career backing other health workers, on the ward and at the table. Now she is standing for General Secretary.
Viola graduated nursing from UTS in 2006 and started on the wards at Sutherland and St George. From 2008 to 2012 she worked at the Langton Centre, a drug and alcohol service, before joining the union in 2012, where she organised and represented members right through to 2025.
As the union's aged care organiser from 2014 to 2020, she looked after the sector through the first waves of Covid and helped prepare the union's submission to the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety.
Closer to home she is a member of the CWA and the Bellingen Health Action Group, and helped start Homes for Health, a program that finds housing for health workers moving to Bellingen and free billets for visiting nursing students.
